Problems in Paradise - Channel Strip Settings Vanish!

June 19th, 2008

Last night I was happily plowing along on my new song “The End” when disaster struck.  Logic Express 7 crawled to a stop and when the dust cleared all but a few of my channel strips were obliterated.  Here is a glimpse of what the chaos looked like:

So where did all my settings go?  For those of you not familiar with Logic, all of the channel strips should look like the three strips in the screenshot that show the complete channel strip.  It turns out that when Logic froze, it changed my “Max. Number of Audio Tracks” to four!  Here is a picture of the audio driver window (after I changed it back to where it belongs):

Changing the number of audio tracks back to where I had it solved the problem and I was a happy camper once again.  It took me a little while to figure out what was happening so I hope this post might be able to help anyone else who stumbles on this problem!

Rock on the Range Recap

May 30th, 2008

On Saturday May 17th my wife, brother-in-law, and myself went to the Rock on the Range concert in Columbus Ohio.  We arrived a little after 4:00, paid $15 for parking, parked in the boonies, and made our way inside.

Once inside we went to the 2nd stage, stood around for a little while and watched the band 10 Years.  Prior to seeing them live I had heard two of their songs on the radio but never knew the name of the band.  They put on a pretty good show.  Next we headed to the main stage to see Serj Tankian.

I was never really a big fan of SOAD but after seeing Serj he is now one of my favorite artists. He was definitely the most unique artist there, from his stage attire to his theatrics. I bought his CD Elect the Dead the following Monday and I still haven’t played it out yet. For anyone who never really liked SOAD but is looking for some hard rocking music with a message behind it definitely check him out!

After Serj was Staind. They played songs from their awesome catalog and Mr. Lewis did an acoustic version of Bob Seger’s Turn the Page.

Following Staind was Disturbed. They played several new songs from their forth-coming release and put on a great show. The crowd was the most enthusiastic about Disturbed because David kept saying “Let me see your fu$&!ng fists in the air mother fu$&ers”. Never fails. At all of the rock concerts I have been to I have always been called a “mother fu$&er”. It just goes with the territory I guess.

Finally after spending hours in a cool cloudy Columbus day STP took the stage. They played all of their great songs and put on a nice evening show. I got to see Scott Weiland twirl around in circles with his megaphone so I was a happy camper. It was great to see STP play their first reunion show. Weiland seemed a little more subdued than usual but it was a great end to a great day.

I’m Getting the Ball Rolling!

May 9th, 2008

I’m sort of putting the wagon before the horse here but I am finally working on a “proper” website for my band.  Hopefully in the next year I will have more tunes up for everyone’s listening (and in the future buying) enjoyment!
